FOCUSED, PURPOSEFUL &
DRIVEN, AHOURE EXUDES
A PASSION TO GIVE BACK
Inspired by her Mom to give back at a very early stage in life,
Ivorian global Sprint Star Murielle Ahoure a few months back
took a trip with UNICEF to her native Ivory Coast and more
recently went back as host and ambassador of the Ivorian
Athletics Federation to the African Under 20 Athletics
Championship hosted in Abidjan by the Confederation of African
Athletics.
In both instances and throughout her career as a global Track
Star what has been very evident and stood out about her
personality is that she exudes a passion coupled with
her humility that’s unlike any global sports star out there.
Ahoure, one can say is that accidental superstar who did not
even know she was that much of a talented athlete till the age of
17 at High School in the USA where she did discover that she
could run very fast. She would go on to pursue her new found
passion at George Mason University in Virginia and the
University of Miami in Florida before she blew up into a global
sensation and became a force on the Track as a speedster for the
Ivory Coast.

The early going of the 2019
Track & Field Season has been
filled with a lot of controversies
involving the IAAF and South
African Athlete Caster Semenya
over her natural born condition
and its been nothing short of a
roller coaster as several court
decisions against and for
has been issued after Semenya
the IAAF came down with a
ruling earlier in the year requiring the athlete to
medicate and reduce her levels of testosterone due to
the fact that she was born with an androgynous
condition. The latest Court Decision was handed down
by the Swiss Federal Courts striking down the
decision of the Swiss based Court of Arbitration for
Sports that had initially sided with the IAAF over the
matter barring Semenya from competing without
medicating to reduce her testosterone levels. African
Sports Monthly will be taking a very critical look at this
issue in our next edition.
