Life Drawing

Figure studies life drawing is a non-instructional model study session that include both short gestures with several longer 10- 20 minute poses . Participants are encouraged to work in any media , except photography , and are required to bring their own supplies .

Introduction to Encaustic Painting

Ages 13 yrs & up Have you ever wanted to try the ancient medium of encaustic but didn ’ t know how to begin ? This exploratory course will introduce you to this beautiful medium made of pigmented beeswax and the tools needed to create beautiful artworks . Using supplied equipment such as butane torches , electric irons and croc-pots you will learn a variety of application techniques : all encaustic medium will also be supplied . Some of the techniques taught in this 9 hour course include : brush-work , iron-work , mono-printing , carving , accretion , fusing , and embedding . You will also learn about the variety of substrates used for encaustics and safety in an encaustic studio . Classes are no larger than 6 people to ensure all participants receive one-on-one instructor time and access to equipment . All equipment and supplies will be provided , however , students may wish to bring small objects and / or photos from home for embedding , ( the instructor will let you know when ). www . angelahansenart . com

Survive Outside

Ages 12 to Adult
Augment your basic outdoor survival knowledge by taking the “ Survive Outside – A Guide to Outdoor Safety and the Code of Responsibility ” program offered by AdventureSmart . This brief presenter-led classroom program is targeted toward novice outdoor enthusiasts , youth groups , and everyone – young and old - interested in learning introductory outdoor survival practices from highlyexperienced SAR volunteers and AdventureSmart team members . In the Survive Outside program , you will learn about SAR in your region ; the Code of Responsibility , including 10 Essentials , Trip Plan , Do ’ s & Don ’ ts ; and Outdoor Travel Tips . Our seasoned , knowledgeable instructors help you tie everything together with scenarios and analyses of real-life SAR experiences . Hug-a-Tree and Survive

This is an RCMP search and rescue initiative that helps lost children survive in the woods . This proactive , preventative program originated in San Diego , CA , after a nine-year-old boy became lost and tragically died in the wilderness . A core program under the AdventureSmart banner , Hug-a-Tree and Survive teaches children invaluable outdoor survival lessons . This is a free program , but registration is required as space is limited .
