Dance See page 9 for Class Key The Weinstein JCC School of Dance offers an exciting learning environment for students of all skill levels. Our program gives dancers the opportunity to learn and perform various types of professional dance in a group setting with the option of a dance recital in the spring. Ballet Slippers Intro to Ballet I Intro to Ballet II Building basic ballet skills Instructor: Sarah Ruppel Bullis Ages: 3 – 5 An introduction to ballet Instructor: Sarah Ruppel Bullis Ages: 3 – 4 Plié jèté, 1, 2, 3 Instructor: Sarah Ruppel Bullis Ages: 4 – 5 In this 9-week Lunch and Fun class, children will learn basic ballet stretches, positions, and fundamental movements, as well as rhythm and musicality through storytelling, all while having fun and making new friends. Ballet slippers are required. Intro to Ballet I classes combine stories and music in a child-friendly setting to help students develop body/spatial awareness, rhythm, flexibility, balance, coordination and confidence. Students will be introduced to beginning ballet techniques and learn basic ballet terminology. This class builds upon the terminology and techniques learned in Intro to Ballet I; however, it is not required to have taken Intro I to enroll in Intro II. Students will advance in their ballet technique at an age-appropriate level and learn movement fundamentals like sequencing, coordination and musicality. For female students, a leotard, tights and pink ballet slippers are required, and hair should be pulled back out of the face in a ponytail or bun. For male students, a white t-shirt, black shorts or pants, and black ballet shoes are required for this year-round class. The Dance Recital will be Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 4:00 pm. *$50 Recital fee not included and will be charged in late January.
