Destination Imagination Global Finals( watch the presentation)
Destination Imagination( DI) Regional Director Lynn Montgomery presented students that competed at DI Global Finals. Participating students are from each level, elementary, middle and high school, and throughout the district. Madison Elementary: Zachary Simonson, Lucy Carline, Nola Evenson, Caleb Lindstrom, Nathan Nguyen, Alaric Burroughs, Alisun Schulstad, Ethan Behun, Katelyn Wozniak, Maya Erickson, Kiyrien Keeton, Iszeya Moe, Sophia Bozquez, with coaches Kelly Burroughs, Mark Carline, Michelle Keeton, and Rebecca Michaelson. Rum River Elementary: Emilia Bye, Nadia Bye, Logan Danielson, Luke Herberg, Tucker Jaworski, Jaxon Knutson, with coach Krista Wyvell-Fink. Johnsville Elementary: Kayden Larson, Ian Busch, Caeden Clark, Avery Clark, Brody Berglin, Parker Kurtz, Leah Schmidt, with coaches Kristi Costa and Dana Frederick. Anoka High School: Grant Fink, with coaches Krista Wyvell-Fink and Jennifer Bobbe. Anoka Middle School: Ella Beck and Melory Beck, with coaches Krista Wyvell-Fink and Jennifer Bobbe; Sydney Haliburton, with coaches Doug Boorman and Marian Boorman. Oak View Middle School: Olivia Surratt, Eavan Bobbe, Samantha Fernandez, with coaches Krista Wyvell-Fink and Jennifer Bobbe. Northdale Middle School: Kaci Schmoll, Emma Jensen, Emma Borchardt, Payton Leet, Michael Sanders, with coaches Kari Schmoll and Rocky Borchardt. Roosevelt Middle School: Carter Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Hailey Bargman, Gabrielle Meyers, Samuel Meyers, Marin Taylor, with coaches Karen Meyers and Pamela Taylor. Andover High School: Eli Henderson, Emilie Henderson, Benjamin Meyers, Quentin Johnson, and Mick Brandon, with coaches Julie Henderson and Matt Henderson. Blaine High School: Lindsay Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Allie Mooney, Andreanna Yang, Mackenzie Meyers, Benjamin Meyers, Machkenzie Allen, Catherine Getty Cooper Allen and Mikayla Ryan, with coaches Lauri Anderson and Wendy Anderson. Coon Rapids High School: Josh Dischinger, with coaches Doug Boorman and Marian Boorman.
CPHS Speech and Debate
Katy Widestrom-Landgraf, Champlin Park High School( CPHS) speech coach, introduced high performing students in state speech and or debate competitions. Vincent Kroll and Oksanna Samey competed at the MSHSL debate tournament, while Dzidedi Azumah and Sydney Heitzman advanced to the MSHSL speech tournament.
CPHS musical in the spotlight
The cast of the CPHS musical production of“ Urinetown” was honored for participating in the Hennepin Theatre Trust Spotlight program. Recognized students or staff include James Russell, vocal director, Steve Johnson, pit director, Emily Jansen, choreographer, Frank Morgan, assistant choreographer, Ally Guglielmi, costume designer, Joe Kokal, sound designer, Maiya Bovee, production assistant, and Dom Taylor, light board operator. Students also collected individual awards for outstanding technical leadership including Grace Morrisette, deck captain, Anthony Noe, sound board operator, Barrett Walker, sound board operator, and Dom Taylor, light board operator. Outstanding performance in a leading role awards were presented to Cecily Gaspar and Ellen Benson with honorable mention presented to Asper Vinar, Conor Daly, Connor Goodell and Victoria Brinton. Will Gaspar, Jackson Rose and Andrew Meester collected the“ evaluator shout-out” recognition from the organization.
CPHS BPA celebrates banner year
Kari Hable, BPA advisor, presented four CPHS students with high honors in state and national competitions. In addition to individual awards, the CPHS BPA team earned the Executive Director’ s Award, presented to the top team in the nation, along with the Community Service Award and Chapter of Distinction award. Junsheng Zheng placed second at BPA nationals in administrative support concepts and is one of two students in the nation to earn the service learning award for contributions to community betterment. He also earned the coveted BPA Torch award. Tsimeng Keng, placed fourth place in interview skills and sixth place in payroll accounting at MN DECA and qualified for national competition. Raul Cordova Valle place third at MN DECA in interview skills and advanced to nationals along with Anthony Kovacovich who collected fifth in interview skills at MN DECA and advanced to nationals.

Kari Hable introduced students with outstanding achievement in Educators Rising competitions, an organization dedicated to cultivating highly skilled teachers and guiding students on their pathway to pursue a career in education.
