Coon Rapids High School Prudential Spirit of Community Award
Angela Belous and Samira Kusztyb were recognized with the Prudential Spirit of Community Award, a designation awarded for excellence in community service in cooperation with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
Coon Rapids High School Advanced Placement scholars
Andrew Argreos, Haddy Bayo, Andrew Hyatt, Houshin Kamata, Eric Sagnes, Patrick Schultz, and Jason Xu were recognized for achieving AP scholar status, scoring 3 or more on three AP exams. Valerie Menna, Dylan Scheibe, Madelyn Westra, Matthew Wichlen, achieved AP Scholar with honor designation and Audrey Callahan, Megan Spielbauer, Ashley Tilke, and Shane Vadnais were honored for achieving AP Scholar with distinction status, scoring 3.5 or higher on three or more exams.
Coon Rapids High School All-State Football award Tyler George, senior quarterback for Coon Rapids High School, was recognized for his selection to the Minnesota High School Football Showcase.
Anoka-Hennepin School Board Volunteer Appreciation Week
Anoka-Hennepin School Board Vice Chair Marci Anderson presented a resolution of appreciation for the volunteers who contribute to the success of student outcomes.
Communications, delegations and petitions
The School Board heard from Lori Thompson regarding school safety.
Employee services
The School Board took actions regarding employees and positions in the district in relation to a reporting timeline needed to comply with contracts and state requirements. Nicole Tuescher, executive director of human resources, presented two items for approval and a third item for information only.
Resolution relating to the termination and non-renewal of teaching contracts of probationary teachers
The School Board approved the resolution in compliance with Minnesota Statute 122A. 40, sub. 5. The action is considered a routine matter conducted annually by the board. The resolution was approved on a 5-0 vote.
Resolution to rescind the inclusion of certain teachers names in resolution terminating probationary teachers The resolution rescinds past board action to restore selected probationary teacher to positions within the district. The resolution was approved on a 5-0 vote.

The board reviewed a listing of employees whose contracts with the district are due to expire at the end of the school year.
Elementary and secondary education
After school community education programs
Al Ickler, executive director of community and government relation, demonstrated a large increase in program participation in after-school programming due to partnerships with the City of Anoka and the City of Coon Rapids. Lisa LaCasse, recreation supervisor with the City of Anoka explained how city resources are being provided as family scholarships for those in need to enable participation. Tim Dahlheimer, Coon Rapids Middle School Community School coordinator noted a 400 percent increase in participation due to assistance provided through the cities. Participation in quality after-school programming is considered an important strategy to improve school success and reduce risk factors for youth.
