Andover High School National Merit Scholar finalists
Becky Brodeur, principal of Andover High School, presented Sarah Ganion and Jian Zheng. These students advanced to finalist status in the competitive National Merit Scholarship competition.
Andover High School Minnesota Scholastic Arts Awards
Andover High School seniors recognized for top finishes in the Minnesota Scholastic Arts Awards. Honored students included Jay Lidberg who collected Gold Key level awards in individual and portfolio and Silver level award in the individual category, Emma Wardour, Gold Key-individual, Molly Posten, Silver Key portfolio and individual and Brandon Dietz, Silver Key-individual.
Andover High School speech and debate
Sarah Matz, speech coach and Dan Bordwell, debate coach, presented high achieving Andover High School students for recognition. Josie Berg, Ryan Hagle and Jack Slavik qualified for the national speech and debate tournament. Connor Bullock and Emma Voge were named to the Minnesota All-State Debate team.
Andover High School Region 7AA Visual Art
Becky Brodeur, principal of Andover High School, announced that Jack Bodene, Taylor Graphenteen, Jackson Hauck, Emily Schildhauer, and Claire Peterson were recognized for 7AA MSHSL Visual Art Competition for ceramics.
Andover High School extraordinary service
Andover High School students Lane LaCoursiere and Hunter Johnson were recognized for extraordinary service for their efforts to assist residents who were involved in a high-profile plane crash on the Mississippi River in Anoka last fall. The students received the Anoka County Sheriff’ s citizen award of honor for their efforts.
Andover High School choir
Becky Brodeur, principal of Andover High School, presented students recognized for excellence in choir. The following students were named to the American Choral Directors Central / North Central American Choral Directors Association( ACDA) honor choir: David Ampaabeng, Kira Grefsheim, Jessica Lynse, Josie Berg, Connor Bullock, Noel Geiger, and Jack Slavik. Students named to the Minnesota Music Educators Association All-State Choir include Destiny Cummings, Bria Deutschlander, Kira Grefsheim, and Briana Hawkins. Students named to the 9 / 10 ACDA honor choir include Kaitlyn Callahan, Mariah Guenther, Keturena Henrich, Grace Jacobs, Eleanor Lindsay, and Margaret Sullivan. Melanie Kjellberg is the choir director at Andover High School.
Minnesota State Bus Safety Poster competition
Chuck Holden, chief operations officer and Jeff Mueller, director of transportation safety, announced winners in the Minnesota state and national bus safety poster competitions. Madison Elementary second grade student Samuel Coleman won first place in Minnesota and third place in the national competition. Other state winners included Emme Karls, Oxbow Creek, kindergarten, Maria Carlson, Coon Rapids Middle School, grade six, Marissa Woods, Coon Rapids Middle School, grade seven, and Lydia Bieurance, Epiphany school, grade eight. Second place state awards were presented to Vanessa Peterson, Jefferson Elementary, grade four and Shanna Betts, Blaine High School, grade 12. Third place finishers at state include Amelia Reinhart, Dayton Elementary, grade two, Issabelle Murillo, Madison Elementary, grade five, and Abarna Anandaraj, Blaine High School, grade 10.

Champlin Park High School International Baccalaureate Programme
Chris Baker-Ravio introduced students who are candidates who earned the rigorous International Baccalaureate( IB) Full Diploma. Recognized students included Mariama Bah, Daniel Barton, Lucas Coughlin, Kennedy Elsnes, Brandon Fried, Jesus Gonzalez, Austin Gore, Andre Hardy, Kendall Harvey, Sydney Heimer, McKenna Kirchberg, Justin Leatherman, Josh Link, Purity Makori, Dillon Murphy, Anh Nguyen, Wyatt Smith, Anabelle Vo, Quiana Walton, Johannah Woodley, Grace Worwa, and Pa Woua Xiong. A total of 427 Champlin Park students will be taking 827 IB exams over the next several weeks as the program continues to grow. Students can also qualify for an IB certificate scholar by taking three or more exams, a status achieved by 86 students, up from 58 students last year.
