Fatih Akin
Fatih Akin is a German filmmaker of Turkish descent. He was born in Hamburg on August 25, 1973.
He received the Golden Bear for best director and best film for his film Head-On ( or “Against the Wall”) in the Berlin International Film Festival in 2004 and the award for best film at the 17th edition of the European Awards film the same year.
In 2007, Akin's The Edge of Heaven, a German-Turkish cross-cultural tale of loss, mourning and forgiveness, won the prize for best screenplay at the 60th Cannes Film Festival in 2007. On October 24, 2007, the same film was awarded the first edition of the LUX prize for European cinema by the European Parliament.
In 2014 he made The Cut, a film depicting a man who in 1915 survives the Armenian genocide, but loses his family, speech and faith. One night he learns that his twin daughters may be alive, and goes on a quest to find them.
Akin’s latest films are Tschick ( 2016) and In the Fade ( 2017)
Cagan Irmak
Caga Irmak was born in April 4, 1970 in Izmir, Turkey. He is a film director, producer and screenwriter.
He is especially known for the television series Çemberimde Gül Oya and Asmalı Konak, and the movies Mustafa Hakkında Hersey, Babam Oğlum and Issiz Adam. The soundtracks of his films are as famous as his films.
Nuri Bilge Ceylan
Nuri Bilge Ceylan was born in Istanbul, January 26, 1959. He is a photographer and filmmaker who was a creditor of the Cannes Film Festival Award for best director in 2008 for the film “Üç maymun” ( ''Three Monkeys'').
In 2014 he won the Golden Palm at Cannes with his film "Kis Uykusu" ( “Winter Sleep”), a drama film set in Anatolia, which explores the division between the powerful and the powerless in Turkey
Özcan Deniz
Özcan Deniz was born in Ankara on May 19th, 1972. He is a singer, actor, director and screenwriter.
Apart from his career as a musician, he has also been devoted to acting and filming. He starred in the hit television series Asmalı Konak Haziran Gecesi in 2002 and Haziran Gecesi in 2004. He has worked on 10 films, both as an actor, director or screen writer at a time. Among these films, his latest ones are: Evim Sensin ( 2013), Su Ve Ateş ( 2014) and Sevimli Tehlikeli ( 2015)
His last television work is the Kaderimin yazıldığı Gun series.
Abdullah Oğuz
Abdullah Oğuz was born 17 June 1958 in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a Turkish film director and producer. Oguz studied at Marmara University. From 1990 to 2000 he produced and directed commercials, TV series and music videos , and later, feature films. Among his latest works, we can mention: Sicak ( 2008), Mutluluk (2007) and Asmalı Konak – Hayat (2003)
Mahsun Kırmızıgül
Mahsun Kirmizigül was born on March 26, 1969 in Diyarbakir, Turkey as Abdullah Bazencir. He is a writer, composer, actor and director, Regarding his filmography, he is best known for Beyaz Melek ( White Angel) (2007), Günesi Gördüm (I saw the sun) (2009) and New York’ta Beş Minare (Five Minarets in New York) (2010)
