Deniz Gamze Ergüven

Denis Gamze Ergüven is a Turkish-French film director, screen writer and actress, best known for her debut film Mustang (2015).

She was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1978, but moved to France in the 1980s, where she graduated from the prestigious La Fémis film school. Her short graduation film Bir damla su (2006) – another film about women’s struggle against the authoritarian and patriarchal tendencies in Turkish society – was well received and was shown as part of the Cinéfondation section at Cannes. Shortly thereafter, it won the prestigious Leopards of Tomorrow award for young artists in Locarno. Most recently, she was working on a feature-length debut about the infamous riots in Los Angeles following a case of police violence in 1992. She postponed work on that film to make Mustang (2015), a film about which we wrote an article in this same magazine last year. Her latest film so far is Kinas ( 2017).

Abdullah Oğuz

Abdullah Oğuz was born 17 June 1958 in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a Turkish film director and producer. Oguz studied at Marmara University. From 1990 to 2000 he produced and directed commercials, TV series and music videos , and later, feature films. Among his latest works, we can mention: Sicak ( 2008), Mutluluk (2007) and Asmalı Konak – Hayat (2003)

Mahsun Kırmızıgül

Mahsun Kirmizigül was born on March 26, 1969 in Diyarbakir, Turkey as Abdullah Bazencir. He is a writer, composer, actor and director, Regarding his filmography, he is best known for Beyaz Melek ( White Angel) (2007), Günesi Gördüm (I saw the sun) (2009) and New York’ta Beş Minare (Five Minarets in New York) (2010)
