QATAR
Qatar World Cup stadiums to be alcohol-free Qatari stadiums hosting 2022 FIFA World Cup football matches will , reportedly , not serve alcohol . Fans will only be allowed to take non-alcoholic drinks to their seats . Alcohol will be allowed outside stadiums before and after some matches .
It is the first World Cup to be staged in a Muslim country , where it is an offence to drink alcohol or be drunk in public . According to UK Government advice , drinking in a public place in Qatar could result in a prison sentence of up to six months and / or a fine up to QAR3,000 (£ 692 ).
The restrictions on alcohol present a major challenge for organisers of the event , which has long been synonymous with beer drinking fans and beer brand sponsorship .
