Mandarin 9( 8 Accelerated) is an introductory course designed to help students become familiar with basic vocabulary and expressions in everyday situations. The course emphasizes pronunciation using the pinyin system, communicative interaction, listening comprehension, writing of key Chinese characters with correct stroke orders, and basic grammatical structures. Students are also encouraged to explore their family backgrounds and cultural identities / comparisons to support the learning of a new culture. Assessment includes interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication.
MANDARIN 9
Mandarin 10( 9 Accelerated) focuses on building students’ confidence and accuracy when communicating in real-life situations using a growing range of vocabulary and expressions. Students will continue developing their interpersonal communication skills, as well as their ability to present and interpret language in both spoken and written forms. They will explore key aspects of Chinese customs and traditions and learn to demonstrate cultural awareness through appropriate behaviors and language use. Assessment includes interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational modes of communication.
