Active Living 11 focuses on three big ideas ; participation in physical activity as an important component of health and wellbeing , exploring the connection with enjoying recreational activities and the motivation to participate in more regular physical activity , and the role of safety and injury prevention practices in allowing lifelong physical activities . Through a variety of physical activities , individualized health and fitness plans , related volunteer work and service , students learn the necessary skills and understanding to be active over their lifetime . Students also engage in professional certification training in CPR-C and Sport First Aid . Assessment will take place through health assignments , self , peer , and teacher evaluations of physical literacy , a fitness inquiry project , and participation rubrics for leadership , fair play , and safety .
