AP Microeconomics

In this Advanced Placement course students will be challenged to learn about economic choices and decision making processes experienced by individuals and businesses . Students learn to employ economic concepts and marginal analysis to examine and solve problems in a variety of scenarios . They also learn about the methods , tools , and communication methods used by economists . The course is organized into five broad topics : basic economic concepts ; supply and demand ; production , cost , and the perfect competition model ; imperfect competition ; factor markets ; market failures and the role of government . AP Microeconomics offers students the opportunity to be well-informed about the economic decisions made by individuals in the world around them , and to tackle challenging university-level material . Curricular competencies developed at this level will help prepare students for post-secondary studies in the humanities . Assessment may include : tests , projects , problem sets , discussions , debates , and other formal assessments .
AP World History

This Advanced Placement course provides a thematic way to understand world history and a foundation from which to view the complexities of today ’ s world . Students will examine continuity and change from about 1200 CE to the present , looking specifically at the impact of technology , economics , demography , social structure , intellectual developments , and political identities , as well as the impact of interactions among and within major societies . Students will practice analytical and critical thinking skills in order to understand historical and geographical contexts ; make comparisons across cultures ; use documents and other primary sources ; and recognize and discuss different interpretations and historical frameworks as part of the process of preparing for the AP examination . Curricular competencies developed at this level will build on the competencies introduced in previous years and help prepare students for postsecondary studies in the humanities , including history , international relations and / or political science . Assessment may include : student project work , presentations , AP-style essays and unit tests .
