Can I take more than one elective from the courses offered in the Social Studies Department in Grade 11 and / or Grade 12 ?
Yes . Students may choose to take multiple electives from the course offerings in either of their senior years . Most of the elective courses are open to all students in both Grades 11 and 12 ; the AP offerings require approval from the course teacher and / or the Department Head .
Do all senior Social Studies elective courses fulfill university entrance requirements ?
Each post-secondary institution has unique admission requirements and these requirements may change at any time . Students are responsible for knowing the admission requirements of the institutions and programs they are applying to for admission . Post- Secondary Counsellors are able to assist students in knowing the most recent information .
Do AP courses fulfill BC Ministry graduation requirements for social studies ?
No . At present , AP courses in the Social Studies department do not fulfill BC Ministry graduation requirements for social studies . The graduation requirements for social studies outlined by the BC Ministry of Education include completion of Social Studies 10 , and one additional senior level BC Ministry of Education social studies 12 course not inclusive of AP courses .
