YOU Can Help to Reduce Waste !

With more and more plastic waste ending up in the environment , the RUN YOUR CITY Series asks all runners to join us in the war on plastic waste .

Plastic has revolutionised the world in many ways , but humans produce roughly 300 million tons of plastic each year , much of it single-use plastic ( SUP ), of which just 10 % is recycled world-wide . The rest ends up in landfills , or worse , in our rivers and oceans , clogging and poisoning entire eco-systems .

Running events have traditionally produced a lot of SUP waste , such as water sachets . That is why the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series aims to reduce its SUP by 95 % across our five events , through the No Excuse for Single-Use campaign , and we call on all runners in the series to join us in this effort !
