50th anniversary of the DOXA SUB
The original DOXA SUB 300 was created to provide a top-quality dive watch
for the emerging recreational scuba diving market. Launched in 1967, it
quickly became the reference for all dive watches that would follow.
Selected by Jacques Cousteau and his U.S. diver’s, and later his son, JeanMichel Cousteau and his Ocean Futures Society, the DOXA SUB continues to
be standard equipment on their undersea expeditions. And the Cousteau family connection continues as Fabien Cousteau became the third generation of
his family to trust the DOXA SUB during his Mission 31 project.
Priced at $2,490, three hundred each of three versions will be offered:
Professional (orange), Sharkhunter (black) and Searambler (silver). Modern
proportions spec out at a 42.5mm x 13.4mm case rated to 30atm with the
original plexiglass crystal replaced by a sapphire domed and shaped to look
just like the original. The engine within is a COSC-certified Swiss Made ETA
automatic 2824.
Bronze Beauty
Zodiac’s welcome return to the brand’s roots is elicited perfectly with the new Super Sea Wolf Bronze
automatic. Inside the 50mmx 44mm ovoid case beats
a COSC-certified edition of the in-house STP 1-11
automatic mechanical movement safely protected
against water to an amazing 100atm. Like all uncoated bronze, each one of the limited run of 82 pieces
in this collection will take on a patina and a look
entirely unique to each watch based on the exposure
and adventure a given watch might endure. A solid
steel back will help avoid any ‘green skin’ syndrome
that bronze might cause with prolonged contact.
Suggested retail is $2,095.
