WARNING: LOSS OF IMMIGRANTS MEANS
A SMALLER U.S. ECONOMY!
For the last 25 years I have been warning immigration advocates that that we need to stop creating immigration policies that only grant employment authorization benefits, such as TPS, DACA and Parole.
We needed to give immigrants rights because it would help protect the U.S. economy. Immigration has been propping up the U.S. economy. We would not have enjoyed the strong job gains in recent years had it not been for the big influx of foreign-born workers present with only employment authorization. Immigrants are now leaving the country through forced removal or voluntarily escaping possible detention.
The U.S. will be left with less young, essential workers, fewer people spending money, and a smaller economy overall. Immigrants suffer now and U.S. citizens will suffer soon after. We could have continued to reap the benefits of immigrant workers had we given them rights and not just employment authorization.
