Mother

On this month when we celebrate Mother’s Day,

we yield this editorial to Norma, a follower of ABClatino, who shares with all of us the

following memories. Happy Mother’s Day!

Every day I read and listen with greater conviction that today is the most important thing.

Why think about yesterday? It's over and it can't be changed (yes, knowing that it's our vital foundation).

The future... when is it? In six months, three years, two hours? - Without ruling out the benefits of projecting -

And all this introduction... what's the point?

Well, it is simply to say that I would like to share with you a warm, simple and at the same time profound story about my mother.

She is totally present... 91 years old and with senility, happy senility.

Esther... Esthercita, the one with bright eyes, the color of time... the one with a sad childhood, daughter of European immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century, heir to circumstances and premature responsibilities... Happy with her primary school: she knew how to read and write!!!

But continue studying, no; work, yes... sewing buttons at work, taking care of children and, for fun, to wash patios on Sunday... And there Samuel appeared. Her true and only love, her partner in illusions, sleeplessness, work, travel... Then all of us. Her adored children.

But, that universal, generous love and those everyday experiences, light or deep, easy or difficult crossed by time were erased; they escaped, and she only has today, the now.

When she sees me, she smiles, smiles, and enjoys... a caressing smile.

She doesn't stop getting ready: earrings, lipstick, purse (empty, but purse nonetheless) and we go out... a walk around the patio, attentive to the plants..., always hanging sweetly from my arm...

It gives me so much tenderness... her look, her voice with

words inventing realities, and there I verify that I have

also erased some dissent, mood swings, confrontations

typical of a distant coexistence and I rescue this full love,

that eternal dedication received and perhaps I celebrate

with greater strength her rare passion to continue living...
