California Dreaming

After obtaining her bachelor’s degree at WVU, Dawn worked at home for a short time before embarking on a road trip with one of her close friends from New York. The two saved money for six months, and then began traveling the country with a loose idea of where they wanted to go and a lust for adventure. They drove to numerous places, most notably New Orleans, La., Rio Grande, N.M., Texas, D.C., and Utah. The two friends were on the road for two months, taking at least one picture every day until they reached their final destination in California.

Adventures Abroad

Dawn spent two years in California working in a bakery before deciding to pursue a master’s degree in order to find work in archaeology. She moved to England, where she attended University College London, a prestigious public research university.

“When I was doing my undergrad, I had a professor who was an archaeologist and had gone to England to do a field school, and I knew that was what I wanted to do. When I started looking at graduate schools, I remembered him and knew I wanted to go to London and work there.”
