go In 2014, God impressed upon my heart to find a partner to help in the work of praying and making disciples. He led me to a friend who had received the same call. We started praying together weekly; praying for clean hands, pure hearts and different burdens God brought to our attention. In May 2015, we joined a group of elderly people for worship and reading of the Word at an estate in the central region of Singapore. During the visit, we connected with an old lady. As we continued to meet with her and pray, this lady accepted the Lord and led us to know others in the community. This is how our work began in the estate; sharing and praying for different people we met in the community. God laid on my heart the importance of reaching this community, but I didn’t know how. We prayed and in 2015 I received an email from a lady asking if I would be interested in helping her start community projects to reach out to elderly people. Having no clue nor experience in launching community projects, we started a small recycling project, engaging with six people in the estate’s Senior Activity Centre. From the two years of project engagement I got to know two ladies and started visiting them at home, praying for their needs, and sharing God’s words with them. As the project came to an end, I felt the Lord wanted me to stay on and continue the work in the estate. By the end of November 2017, I knew many harvest workers and God led another friend to join the work on the estate. 2018 was a fruitful year. God led us to many others through prayer walks. On one occasion, we got lost in a block of homes. As we tried to find our way, we met an elderly man who we then began to visit. In the process of our weekly visits, God helped us grow in our knowledge and love for him and for the people in the community. Our prayers are always focused on seeking the spirit of God to show us how and what to share. As we meet with people in the estate, we share scriptures, stories about Jesus or simply sit with a listening ear. We always end our time with prayer for the elderly people we have visited. One aunty of another faith even brought us to visit her husband (Uncle) in the nursing home so that we may share the blessings with him. Aunty has now become our Cantonese translator, translating the words we share so that Uncle may understand. Uncle suffers from dementia and was unable to talk for many years, however, he has started talking and responding to our messages and songs. God has empowered us to be the church to the estate, bringing the good news to the people, and praying that God will raise disciples among them to continue His kingdom work. Just two weeks ago, God opened the door to a community of people of another faith, and He also brought more workers to this community. My prayer is that God will use me as a broken vessel, at times clueless, not knowing what is going to happen next but being assured that our infinite God will show me the way. All glory to God and greater things to come in 2019! John 14:12-14 40 day kingdom Prayer Challenge 27
