If you are one of the many legal, responsible gun owners who does not possess a Carry Permit/License, you must be especially vigilant in your knowledge of transporting your firearm within the borders of not only your resident state but also your destination state. Your resident state might allow a loaded and accessible firearm in your vehicle whereas other states might require it to be locked and inaccessible or even unloaded, locked and ammo/firearm in separate locations.

Knowing the laws of the other states is oh so important if you are flying to your destination. Check with your airline for special procedures for traveling with a firearm. Make sure you have completed all required permits for your final stop/destination before you begin your travel. Be sure to ask to whom you must inform that you are checking a firearm.

Questions you need to ask the airline:

• Are there limitations on the number of firearms allowed

per hard-sided case?

• What types of locks are permitted?

• Are there additional fees?

• Can you pack ammunition in the same case as the firearm?

• Is there a limit on the ammunition?

• What about non-functional training pistols?
