Course Name: Japanese I Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: None
Description: This course is designed to introduce the Japanese language; it emphasizes all skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing in an integrated way. Includes how to greet and take leave of someone, to ask and respond to back questions, to speak and read within a range of carefully selected topics and to develop an understanding of Japanese culture.
Course Name: Japanese II Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 9th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Japanese I( 70 %+)
Description: This course enhances level one skills and provides opportunities to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in an integrated way. Provides continued practice in how to greet and take leave of someone, to ask and respond to basic questions, to speak and read within a range of carefully selected topics and to increase understanding of Japanese culture.
Course Name: Honors Japanese II Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 9th- 12th grade Prerequisites: Japanese I( 85 %+)
Description: This is an accelerated course that builds on level one skills in Japanese I, and provides opportunities to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in an integrated way. Provides continued practice in how to greet and take leave of someone, to ask and respond to basic questions, to speak and read within a range of carefully selected topics and to increase understanding of Japanese culture. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: Honors Japanese III Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 10th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Japanese II( 85 %+); Honors Japanese II( 80 %+)
Description: This course enhances level two skills in Japanese and provides further opportunities to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in an integrated way. Provides continued practice in previous topics and introduces new topics; offers further opportunities to increase understanding of Japanese culture. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
