Teamwork Takes Flight: How the Card Center Came Together for Homecoming
This year’ s Homecoming theme,“ All Around the World,” gave our Card Center team the perfect opportunity to combine creativity, teamwork, and Monarch pride. What started as a fun decorating project quickly became something more meaningful: a chance for us to connect, collaborate, and celebrate the spirit of ODU together. Our office transformed into a global experience that reflected both the theme and our teamwork. Each space represented a different part of the world: Europe, Antarctica, North America, Australia, and Africa. Working on this project together brought out the best in each of us. From designing creative displays to crafting decorations by hand, every person contributed their own ideas and talents. What stood out most wasn’ t just the finished product, though we’ re proud to say it earned us first place in the Office Decorating Contest, but the way we came together as a team. This project also helped us learn about and get to know each other in ways we probably wouldn’ t have if it weren’ t for this opportunity to decorate together. Two students who had just started working in the office on October 1 were decorating together and getting along so well that we honestly thought they were best friends before joining our team! Through laughter, hours of brainstorming, and a lot of teamwork, we strengthened our morale and built an even closer bond with one another. This experience reminded us that when we work together, support each other, and bring our unique ideas to the table, we can create something truly special both in our workspace and in our community. For us, Homecoming wasn’ t just about decorating; it was about connection, creativity, and celebrating what it means to be part of Student & Campus Life, where engagement, active learning, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
