expenses, including uniform purchases, overnight curricular and co-curricular excursions, and costs associated with co-curricular activities.
“ Grade Cohort” means a group or class of students distinguished by a graduating year( i. e. Class of 2026). Students enroling at CHS are admitted to a grade cohort and are expected to progress with this group from one year to the next. The School sets enrolment targets based on the maximum cohort size for each grade.
" Head of School " means the person appointed by the CHS Board of Governors to be responsible for( or to share in the responsibility for) the day-to-day running of the School. In certain circumstances, the Head of School ' s authority and responsibilities may be delegated to a designated individual.
“ New Student Entrance Fee” means the non-refundable fee charged to the Student’ s account upon acceptance of a conditional offer of admission. This‘ one-time,’ non-refundable fee is in addition to annual tuition. Payment of this fee is required before the School can proceed with enrolment.
“ Notification of Enrolment” means the electronic message sent to current Parents / Guardians inviting a Child to enrol for the next academic year. This initiates the enrolment process for the next academic year and provides a link to the Enrolment Agreement.
“ Ordinarily Resident” means the criteria utilized by the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care to determine if a parent or guardian meets the residency requirements necessary for the student to qualify for the Independent School Grant( ISG) under the Independent School Act. If this status is not met, the student does not qualify for the ISG funding, and the school typically requires the parent or guardian to pay an equivalent fee.
" Parent / Guardian” means the parent, legal guardian, or another legal representative of a Student. A legal guardian or another representative of a Student is someone who has been appointed or is otherwise recognized as a legal guardian by legislation or judicial process in British Columbia.
“ Single Source Authority” An operational principle stipulated in the Enrolment Agreement under which the School treats the legally binding actions( e. g., acceptance of terms, consent, instruction) of any one Parent / Guardian with decision-making authority as binding upon, and considered accepted by, all other Parent( s)/ Guardian( s). Furthermore, official communication directed by the School to any single authorized Parent / Guardian is deemed to constitute official notice to all parties.
“ Tuition Deposit” means the non-refundable payment that must be paid by February 1 in advance of the next school year in order to be eligible for enrolment in that year and that will be credited towards the Annual Tuition Fee.
