Section 1: ​
Definitions
" Academic Year” or“ School Year” means the period between July 1 and June 30 of the following year.
" Annual Tuition Fee” means the annual enrolment fee set out in the Enrolment Agreement, as determined by the CHS Board of Governors.
“ Child” or“ Student” means a child of any age admitted to or enrolled at the School.
“ Decision-Making Responsibility” 1 means a Parents / Guardians’ duty to make important decisions about their Child’ s life, including the Child’ s health, education, culture, language and extracurricular activities. Section 2( 1) of the Divorce Act stipulates the following:
The Act authorizes a court to assign responsibility for making significant decisions about a child’ s life. The decisions must relate to the child’ s:
●​ health, such as whether to undergo a medical procedure; ●​ education, such as choice of school;
●​ culture, language, religion and spirituality, such as which faith the child will follow, if any; and / or
●​
“ Disruptive Event”
significant extra-curricular activities, meaning activities that require a relatively large investment of the parents’ time or financial resources.
means any circumstance that is beyond the reasonable control of the School, including, without limitation, earthquakes, fire, explosions, storms, lightning, floods, accidents and other acts of God, war, revolution, terrorist attacks, civil commotions, riots, sabotage, vandalism, local or national emergencies, pandemics, epidemics, or other regional or localized outbreaks or occurrences of diseases, changes in laws or governmental regulation, acts or failures to act, by government or governmental authorities or agencies, and any strike, third party lockout, work slowdown and other labour disputes.
“ Enrolment Agreement” The legally binding contractual document executed by the Parent( s)/ Guardian( s) and the School, which secures the Child ' s place for the upcoming academic year and integrates all terms and conditions set forth within this Enrolment Policy.
“ Financial Assistance” means a discount of up to 98 % of the annual Tuition and New Student Registration Fees for qualifying students. Assistance will be available for additional compulsory and discretionary
