METROPOLITAN WASHINGTON AIRPORTS AUTHORITY
Board of Directors
The board of directors plays a pivotal role in steering the long-term success of the Airports Authority, representing the collective interests of airport stakeholders. The Airports Authority is governed by a 17-member board of directors( the“ board”). Seven members of the board are appointed by the governor of Virginia subject to confi rmation by the Virginia General Assembly, four are appointed by the mayor of the District of Columbia, subject to confi rmation by the Council of District of Columbia, three are appointed by the governor of Maryland and three are appointed by the president of the United States with advice and consent of the Senate. Directors are eligible to serve up to two consecutive six-year terms.

As of December 31, 2025, the board of directors had 15 members. In 2025, the governor of Virginia( Youngkin) appointed two new directors. Three federal appointee positions remained vacant throughout the year.
