Accessibility
The Airports Authority works to create inclusive travel experiences for all customers, including those with disabilities. Accessible air travel is a collective effort throughout the industry, and close collaboration with the disability community is essential.
Sunflower Lanyard Program
In support of a more accessible and inclusive travel experience, the Airports Authority participates in the internationally recognized Hidden Disabilities Sunfl ower Program. The program helps identify and support travelers with invisible disabilities by providing a discreet way for passengers to signal they may need additional assistance, patience or understanding while navigating the airport environment.
Invisible disabilities may include neurological, cognitive, developmental, physical or chronic health conditions that are not immediately apparent. Through this program and related accessibility initiatives, the Airports Authority works to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all travelers.
Nearly 2,000 sunfl ower lanyards were distributed throughout our airports to the traveling public in 2025.
Americans with Disabilities Act Advisory Committee
The Airports Authority has launched an Americans with Disabilities Act Advisory Committee that brings together community partners and Authority employees who have a personal experience with or passion for accessibility. The committee’ s mission is to make our airports a model of accessibility for the region, ensuring all travelers, employees and community members can navigate and experience our facilities with ease and dignity.
The committee:- Serves as a central body to guide the Authority’ s accessibility initiatives
- Supports the Authority’ s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and related regulations
- Promotes a culture of access for all passengers, employees and visitors- Fosters collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders
This effort supports the Authority’ s commitment to creating airports that go beyond compliance, setting the standard for accessibility, service and community partnership.
