Enhancing Mental Health Supervision

FY25 marked year three of the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program( JMHCP) grant through the Bureau of Justice Assistance. This initiative, Adopting a Case Consultation Model to Enhance Mental Health Supervision, focuses on improving outcomes for individuals under supervision with behavioral health needs through a Clinical Case Consultation Model.

During FY25, DCS implemented the Functional and Abilities Rating Scale( FARS) across pilot sites, led by specialized mental health officers. In partnership with research collaborators, DCS also showcased the program’ s progress through a recorded presentation at the American Probation and Parole Association( APPA) Annual Conference in New York City.

In FY25, the Risk Reduction Unit( RRU) strengthened statewide supervision through targeted training, field support, and quality assurance— reinforcing evidence-based practices and professional standards.
