Housing

The Reentry Services Housing team works to ensure every individual— including those with higher barriers, such as sexual offense convictions— has access to safe, stable housing. By partnering with housing agencies and specialized providers, the Division upholds legal standards while maintaining public safety.

Stable housing is the foundation of reentry success. Through the Transitional Housing Opportunities for Reentry( THOR), DCS supports 104 approved facilities, including 8 serving individuals classified as sexual offenders, providing structure, accountability, and support that promote long-term stability.

The Division also partners with other state agencies through the Reentry Partnership Housing( RPH) program, which included 37 providers statewide at the close of FY25. RPH helped 98 individuals granted parole secure housing, achieving a 72 % successful completion rate— demonstrating that stability strengthens public safety.

Second Chance Month Restoring Hope. Rebuilding Lives. Strengthening Communities.

Each April, DCS joins the national observance of Second Chance Month to highlight the power of connection and collaboration. In FY25, events across all ten districts brought together partners, employers, and individuals, connecting hundreds of Georgians to employment, housing, education, and wellness resources.

From job fairs to wellness expos, these events reinforced a simple truth: successful reentry begins with community support. By amplifying lived experiences and strengthening partnerships, DCS continues to build momentum for success statewide.

By expanding partnerships, strengthening housing pathways, and empowering communities, DCS is helping build safer, more stable futures across Georgia.

Successful reentry is more than a transition; it’ s a transformation. Our work reminds us that progress doesn’ t always happen in one step, but it begins with belief in someone’ s potential. That’ s the true measure of our impact.
