Academic Partnerships Workforce Development Expo
About 200 high school students from Washington, D. C., Arlington and Fairfax County public schools visited Reagan National Airport to explore potential career paths in the airport and aviation industry. In collaboration with the American Experience Foundation, the Airports Authority hosted the Workforce Development Expo to inspire the next generation of airport professionals and showcase the Airports Authority’ s job opportunities and Skilled Trade Apprenticeship Program. Students heard from representatives of the Airports Authority, the Federal Aviation Administration and companies that operate within the airport. They also visited the airport’ s fire station to see demonstrations by the public safety team- featuring the SWAT and motorcycle units- and special fire equipment.“ Today’ s event is a unique opportunity to discover the many exciting and diverse career options available to you at the Airports Authority, as well as in the aviation industry,” CEO Jack Potter told attendees.“ We hope it sparks your interest in exploring new possibilities for your future.” Through its outreach events, the Airports Authority is committed to promoting access to career opportunities within the transportation and aviation industry.
