Employee Volunteer Program
We believe in the power of giving back to the communities we serve. Our Employee Volunteer Program is a key part of our community outreach, empowering Airports Authority employees to support local non-profi t organizations and schools through service. This program refl ects our commitment to not only operating world-class airports and strengthening the communities around them, fostering a spirit of volunteerism and making a positive impact.
Supporting the Community
The Airports Authority is proud to support and collaborate with various community organizations dedicated to making a difference in the region. Through strategic partnerships and volunteer efforts, we aim to strengthen local programs that align with our commitment to community well-being, economic opportunity, cultural vibrancy and environmental stewardship.
In 2024, employees donated a record number of over 415.5 hours of their time with organized opportunities.
• Arlington Food Assistance Center- Staff volunteered at the Arlington Food Assistance Center, sorting and packing over 1,000 bags of produce to support 3,700 + families, reinforcing our commitment to community service and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Friends of Mount Vernon Trail- In celebration of Earth Day, staff and their families joined a clean-up with Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail, removing invasive kudzu to protect trees and improve trail access along the Potomac, while building cross-team and community connections.
• United Service Organizations- Employees assembled 1,000 care packages for U. S. troops who were beginning their deployments. Each package was fi lled with snacks and essentials to help bring comfort and a taste of home to service members.
• Wreaths Across America- Nearly 50 Airports Authority volunteers participated in Wreaths Across America, honoring veterans at local cemeteries and deepening community bonds through personal connections and shared refl ection.
Special Olympics Virginia $ 723 million raised during the annual Dulles Day Plane Pull and 5K / 10K Race
Alexandria City Public Schools Our employees donated 200 + backpacks and packed countless school supplies
Loudon Hunger Relief Our employees donated over 1,750 pounds of non-perishable food items
Food for Others Food Rescue DC Capital Area Food Bank
Donated over 2,000 bottles of water to local food distribution centers
Northwest Community Pantry DC Path Forward Bethany House of Northern Virginia
Donated over 5,325 hygiene items to local non-profi ts serving the community
