Community Voices Support Government Action to End Parkinson ’ s

As the promise of Parkinson ’ s drug development continues to grow , greater emphasis is needed to urge the government to prioritize research and care policies that center people and families with PD . Ensuring robust research funding , safeguarding access to health services and amplifying patient needs in the regulatory process are just some of the areas of focus for the Foundation . The advocacy of community — patients , families and researchers — is imperative to grabbing attention on these issues , bolstering support and effecting change in Washington , D . C ., and beyond .

MJFF ’ s policy staff in Washington , in partnership with our nationwide network of advocates , continue working toward the passage of policies at the state level that support research toward better treatments and a cure for Parkinson ’ s . In 2023 , MJFF pursued legislation related to Parkinson ’ s research registries — resources that collect health information on individual cases , monitoring and identifying connections to environmental and chemical exposures — in 10 states , with five passing legislation .
