SUPERINTENDENT
The Superintendent ’ s Cut
The LGCC maintenance team can finally say that Spring is here at the club ! We are excited that the golfing season is here , and the team is gearing up for the growth that comes with the warmer spring weather .
As many of the members have alluded to over the past few weeks , the rough is growing ! The team has been working diligently to get the initial rough mow completed and continues to work towards keeping the rough playable for the season .
The LGCC maintenance team is also hoping the warmer nighttime and daytime temperatures will kick the greens into growing weather again . The spring aerification went as well as any maintenance team can hope for , however the weather was the crutch into why the greens have taken much longer than expected to heal properly . A second fertilizer application was applied to the putting surfaces at the end of the month of April in hopes to kick them into gear . However , the sustained warmer temperatures will be the only factor that will truly help with the healing process . The plan will be to continue to monitor the greens and their growth and then to begin grooming and aggressively cut to get the greens sped up to a consistent speed which the membership will appreciate in the coming weeks .
The new course amenities including cups , flags , flagsticks and fairway yardage markers have been received and the team is planning on getting them onto the course by the middle of the month . The maintenance team has also been working on adding sand into the bunkers . The bunker project has taken a bit longer than expected but the additional sand is being implemented on a weekly basis . The cause of the delay has been due to staffing issues and keeping the course mowed and playable for golf . We appreciate all your patience while the team works towards getting the course back into the condition you have been accustomed to the past few seasons .
If there are any questions or concerns regarding the course , please do not hesitate to stop me when you see me around the property and ask . And as always , we are continuing to work hard in order to provide you , the members , with the best possible playing conditions in the Valley !
