Tournament Results : Unforeseen weather issues and delayed sign ups have limited our Spring tournament schedule . We completed the One-Day Member Guest on April 30th with 14 twosomes participating . The ladies were able to get in their Opening Day Scramble . There are many more opportunities to participate in either one day or two day events . Check out the website calendar .
Upcoming Events :
1 . The senior interclub match schedule is available in the golf shop . If you would like to participate , please see me or contact Bob Hopkins to get on the contact list . We have home and away matches set up with Ironwood , Spotswood , Orchard Creek and Lakeview . These are fun events with opportunities to play other courses and compete in semi-competitive formats with lunch following play .
2 . The Men ’ s Association Thursday Evening 9 hole group has begun . These weekly , 9-hole , 2 person best ball ( fourball ) events continue thru August . Start time is 5:30pm . These are 2 person events , and if you don ’ t have a partner , let the pro-shop know and we can help to pair you up .
3 . A new committee has been formed to coordinate the “ Major Events Activities ” this year . Those events include a 2-day tournament on Memorial Day Weekend ; a 3- day Men ’ s Member Guest Tournament in June ; a 2-day Member-Member event in July and a 2-day event Labor Day weekend . These events include food and entertainment activities as well . You don ’ t have to play in the golf tourney to participate in the extracurricular activities .
Lessons are available in packages or single tune-up options . Contact myself or fellow PGA professional Jeff Wagner to schedule a time on the range or on the course .
Handicap Change : Folks , including myself , are getting more comfortable with our new handicap provider , HANDICOMP . We will be using this service for our in-house tournaments . If you are not already switched over , please let us know so that we can add you to the roster .
Tom Trumps and Glenn Keating are newly hired shop attendants . Tom was the commandant at VMI and retired a few years ago to attend to his farm and other hobbies . Glenn is also retired and has many years of golf work experience . Please help them out as they learn names and faces and become familiar with the Point of Sale system . Our Spring junior clinics are well underway and well attended . We meet on Tuesdays in May starting at 4:30 for the younger crowd ( ages 6-10 ); and at 5:30 for the older group . Call or email me for further questions .
Scott has joined the Cleveland / Srixon staff so this line will also be more prevalent in the shop . Great wedges , many ball options , Srixon irons and woods . ( Koepka , Bradley , Matsuyama and others are advertising the brand .)
