LADIES : The Ladies Opening Day is scheduled for Saturday , April 23 . This will be an 18 hole event followed by a lunch meeting .
SENIORS : The Senior Interclub Schedule is being put together with matches ( Home and Away ) scheduled with Lakeview , Spotswood , Ironwood , Orchard Creek and others , tba . Bob Hopkins , Senior Coordinator , held a January breakfast meeting . Items discussed were uniforms , dues , handicapping , and schedule . Men of age , 50 +, are invited to join this group .
JUNIORS : Utilizing SNAG equipment , Scott invited his junior group out for an impromptu “ fun in the snow ” event , hitting SNAG golf balls at a moving target , Casadie Mauck , dressed in a SNAG suit . Sledding was also part of the afternoon activity on the driving range ; followed by hot chocolate and cookies .
Clinics will pick up in the Spring once Daylight Savings Time gives us a bit more evening daylight .
A VSGA Junior One-Day event will be held at LGCC on Saturday , April 2 . Register for this event thru the VSGA website .
MEN ’ S EVENTS : The Men ’ s Association will resume in the spring . This is a fun group that plays on Thursday evenings during the golf season . Competition is keen with most of the 9-hole games a 2-person event , using both gross and net scoring .
CLUB EVENTS : The Annual Mad Hatter Golf Tournament was moved to Friday , Dec 31 to avoid a cold and wet Jan 1 forecast . 64 players teed it up with the team of Weenie Miller , Neal Lineberry , Darrin Webb , and Gary Tyree winning the gross division with a 7 under 70 . Format was Captain ’ s Choice .
Three teams tied for first in the Net division . Carol Blair , Jane Mortenson , Linda Maini , and Vicki Black shot Net 62 ; along with the team of Hal Hill , Doug Caldwell , Dave
