Modified Men ’ s Club opening day largest in years
The first event of this year ’ s Men ’ s
Club golf season , held Saturday , April 3 , turned out to be a huge success ! While we normally would have had a sit-down breakfast with pre-game cocktails in the CCC dining room
MASON for around 50 to 60 members , COV- ID-19 rules prohibited such a gathering this year . Instead , 96 players signed up to play a scramble game with 24 teams including a sack lunch provided by The Turn . That turnout is by far the largest opening day turnout in recent memory .
Men ’ s Club divisions
The Charbonneau Men ’ s Club has two “ divisions ” defined by the number of holes played : 18-hole division and ninehole division . Men ’ s Club members may choose to play in regular weekly games in either or both divisions based on their on their own preference .
Because of all the changes this year , the following is a summary of how to sign up and play on Men ’ s Club game days since sign-up procedures differ between divisions and between days .
18-hole sign-up procedure
With the utilization of Golf Genius for scheduling Wednesday and Saturday Men ’ s Club play , most scheduled play is now done via emails . Generally , all Saturday games are team games for which Golf Genius will “ mix ” players and balance handicaps between teams . Generally , Wednesdays are individual games which allows “ mixed ” teams or individual or foursome sign ups .
All Men ’ s Club members will receive an email “ invitation to play ” seven days before the scheduled Wednesday or Saturday play day which will include a game description .
If a member wants to be randomly mixed with other members in the game they must select “ playing ” by Sunday at noon before a Wednesday game or Wednesday at noon before a Saturday game .
There will be a short waitlist for members who sign up late , but to guarantee a place in the random pairing please try and sign up as soon as possible .
The day before game day , a tee sheet will be emailed to all players that have chosen to play either through random pairing or those that have requested their own tee time through the Pro-Shop for Wednesday .
On the afternoon of the day of play , the scoring committee will enter scores and publish results to the bulletin board and to the Men ’ s Club website . You should not post your own individual scores on these days .

Nine-hold division : Sign-up procedure for Wednesday and Friday
As in past years , the regular play days for the nine-hole division are Wednesday and Friday . Regular play began on Wednesday , April 7 , and the last play day is Wednesday , Sept . 29 . The 2021 nine-hole calendar of play can be found on the CMC website : http :// mc . golfcharbonneau . com / events-2019-9-hole-calendar-of-play /.
For the nine-hole division only , tee times for regular play days can be reserved by calling the Pro-Shop . Times are generally available between 9:30- 10:45 a . m .
Hole-in-one report — two more
This season ’ s fourth hole-in-one was made by Jeff Cummings on Wednesday , April 7 , on Red No . 4 . Jeff is a single digit handicap and has played golf for over 50 years and this was his first hole-in-one ! More amazing , Jeff made his shot with a new set of clubs that he
