of being kind to everyone and reminds her grandchildren to be grateful for life and who gave it to them .
Both Lin and Barbara joke about being able to enjoy all the love of grandchildren before “ handing them back ” to their parents to deal with discipline issues or other not-so-fun aspects of raising children .
“ You get to send them home after you ’ ve spoiled them all day ,” quipped Barbara , who is eager to take the clan to dinner for special treats as they often did prior to social distancing .
For Lin , she appreciates that grandparenting is like “ being a mom with a remote .” She says she knows there will be a beginning and an end to every visit . When her family gets together , they enjoy sharing Lin ’ s passion for art by tapping into their creativity and working on hands-on projects .
Longtime resident Wilma Sheridan is also grateful grandparenting isn ’ t a 24-hour activity . This adds to the “ fun ” nature of the relationships with her six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren . She advises other grandparents that there will be times they ’ ll have to take a step back and remember their children are in charge of parenting the grandkids . This may require understanding and tactfulness .
Among the other gems from SpringRidge residents were :
� We can focus on having fun and I never have to be the “ bad guy .”
� There are no “ mom ” duties so there ’ s always plenty of fun to be had .
� You think you ’ ve poured all the love you possibly have to give into your children , then they have kids and you realize how much more love you have left to give .

� I thought “ mother ” was my most important role in life until I became a grandmother . There ’ s such joy in sharing our family ’ s history and passing down stories told to me by my mother .
� Being grandma is pure magic !
