Winhall
Two facts about Winhall : the town has 742 registered voters , and there are more second homes than primary residences . In other words , there is a stable small-town base and an economy boosted by the presence of part-timers , who come in all seasons . The year-round population has tripled since the 1960s , in large part because Winhall is the gateway to Stratton Mountain Resort , the region ’ s premier skiing destination . Bromley is just up the road , too . The little village of Bondville on wRoute 30 anchors the commercial and civic life of the town and supplies visitors with the necessities .
Community life is centered on the wonderful Winhall Library , located in an old schoolhouse . Besides lending books , the Library hosts community lunches , film showings , support group meetings , art exhibits , and of course book clubs ; it ’ s where people connect with neighbors and meet new residents . The recently renovated and reopened Community Arts Center is another social and cultural venue . Families appreciate that Winhall offers school choice ; most pre-K to 8th grade students elect to attend the private Mountain School right in town . Winhall is a mountain town , but Manchester is only 20 downhill minutes away . In other words , you can have it all in the town of Win-hall ( as long as you can make it uphill ).
