Wilsonville Council
President Kristin
Akervall announced
Tuesday, May 5, that
she will run for reelection this
November.
The Villebois resident was elected
to her first term in 2016 before being
appointed to the position of council
president in 2019. Councilor Joann
Linville also said she will run to keep
her seat while Mayor Tim Knapp said
he wouldn’t make a decision until
after the community decides whether
to approve the term limits ballot
measure, which if approved would
prevent Knapp from seeking
reelection.
“As we chart that path forward, I
believe it is important that we
continue to focus on building an
environment that allows our
strengths to shine. Wilsonville has
great schools, family-friendly
infrastructure, and is a welcoming and
caring community,” Akervall said in a
press release. “The council has a
difficult job, but I am ready to bring
my experience and perspective to
build on the offerings of the city and
navigate towards a bright future.”
Akervall, who has one child and is
working on a master’s degree in
business analytics from Syracuse
University, said in an interview that
making sure she had the time to
dedicate to the job was a determining
factor in her decision.
“I’m a person that likes to do things
well when I’m committed to them,”
she said. “People expect us
to do the readings, the work and show
up. I needed to consider that
carefully.”
As a councilor, Akervall enjoyed
working on the city’s plan to reshape
Town Center and prides herself on
preparedness and having a level head
while also listening to and
empathizing with community
members.
“I think I’m pretty level and I
usually have pretty measured
responses to things,” she said. “I’m a
person that feels things deeply but I
don’t tend to get angry quickly or
react quickly. And I think that’s a
strength. That’s a good thing for
a leader.”
In her role on the council, Akervall
has also served on the Willamette
Intake Facilities Commission and as a
council liaison to the Library Strategic
Planning Committee. Before her
election to the council, she served on
the West Linn-Wilsonville School
Board Budget Committee and the city
of Wilsonville’s Development Review
Board.
“I’m excited because I see a lot of
possibilities about the future. I want
to keep sight of that and remind
people of all the good that’s to come,”
Akervall said.

yet and I’m sure you understand. Our
inventory is very good so things you
would receive now, are clean and safe.
(Maybe a bit dusty).
You will receive the new CCC Directory
soon, so be sure to earmark
the page that says “Sunshine.” There
will be a big list of volunteers (19 I
think) so there is no shortage of who
to call if/when you might need something.
Remember, if person No. 1
doesn’t answer or cannot help at that
moment, just move onto person No. 2,
etc. All of us know what to do and
would be happy to assist you.
My garden looks fabulous, thanks
to all this spare time at home! There
might be spiders, slugs and squirrels
in the yard, but I haven’t seen COV-
ID-19! Please stay safe, wear your
mask and hang onto the good stuff in
life.
The Charbonneau clubhouse is currently
planned to remain closed through July 5
as per the governor’s guidelines.
All indoor activities and events are
cancelled until further notice. In this
uncertain time, changes occur daily
so keep checking our CCC website for
updates to our calendar.
