WVUSD: 2019/2020 Year-End Results
• Business Services Division hosted 2019/2020 School Administrative Assistants’ Meetings
• Business Services Division hosted Oktoberfest for the District Office staff
• Participated in the Susan G. Komen Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser by
hosting a month-long “Holiday BOOtique”
• Both the Purchasing/Warehouse Department and Business Services Division decorated
a teddy bear for auction at the Walnut Valley Educational Foundation’s Teddy Bear Tea
• Passed out candy to Preschool and Walnut Elementary School kindergarten students
during Halloween visit to District Office
• Business Services Division hosted a Chinese New Year monthly District Office social
• Each staff member adopted a child for the holidays and participated in the Caring Soles
campaign
Purchasing/Warehouse Department provided customer service as follows:
• Continued with ESCAPE training to sites and all new staff
• Provided layout services for classrooms, conference rooms, and offices
• Designed, purchased furniture and supplies, and staged the new wellness center at
Walnut High School
• Purchasing/Warehouse and Maintenance collaborated on the District Office’s new staff
lounge
Other highlights included the following:
• Annual warehouse inventory in December 2019. Warehouse inventory included 511
stock items valued at $342,850.74. Final result showed an inventory discrepancy of .46%
• Purchasing nominated Castle Rock Elementary School Principal Jennifer Alcazar for the
“Sharp Idea Award” sponsored by Culver-Newlin. She received a commemorative award,
as well as a furniture grant.
• To have students involved with the construction project at Collegewood Elementary
School, Purchasing selected Collegewood to partner with FomCore and Culver-Newlin in
a “contest” where students design a piece of furniture that is unique to their need. In a
team environment, FomCore will work with the students and teachers to walk them
through the manufacturing and design process. One idea would be selected,
manufactured, and donated along with a $1K grant to the school.
