WVUSD: 2019/2020 Year-End Results Purchasing/Warehouse Department The Purchasing/Warehouse Department provides quality products and services to our students, teachers, and staff. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of ethics and professionalism, and to preserve the District’s best interest, as well as that of our vendors, as a priority. We provide genuine value and service to our customers, and continue to maintain the philosophy of “Kids Come First.” The Purchasing/Warehouse Department has processed 3,096 purchase orders (totaling $15,358,759), 264 construction purchase orders (totaling $42,512,615), and 1,370 warehouse requisitions (totaling $328,641). In addition, Purchasing registered teachers and staff to attend 241 conferences. Purchases include, but are not limited to, vehicles, maintenance equipment, textbooks, athletic equipment, instructional materials, furniture, consultant services, and technology. Purchasing holds a fiduciary responsibility for the District’s procurement of its supplies and services. Purchasing will obtain quotes or seek other procurement methods if purchases are over the bid limit. Purchasing’s involvement with construction projects includes creating construction timelines for each project, preparing advertisement of the bids and bid documents, conducting the mandatory job walks (along with the project manager), receiving bids and overseeing bid openings, reviewing and verifying documentation, making recommendations for award to the Board of Trustees, sending Notice to Award letters, reviewing documentation received from contractors, verifying pay applications, receiving recommendations for completion, receiving Board approval for final completions, and filing of Notices of Completion with the Los Angeles County Registrar- Recorder/County Clerk. This year, Purchasing assisted with the following bid projects: • Collegewood Elementary School two-story classroom building • Diamond Bar High School new band/music building • Diamond Bar High School 500 building modernization • Districtwide asphalt and slurry Purchasing also issued one Request for Proposal (RFP) for audit services. During 2019/2020, the Purchasing/Warehouse Department was privileged to be involved with and supported the following District events: • Hosted an end of the summer celebration “We Crushed It!” for all the divisions to show its support for working together in order to close out the 2018/2019 and open the 2019/2020 school years. 44
