● Collaboration Support
o Ensure sub availability to allow teachers time for learning walks and data analysis
o Ensure sub availability/scheduling for collaboration times
o Enhance PLCs to reflect newly learned approaches from our PLC + training based on
John Hattie's and Doug Fisher's work
● Support for English Language Learners
o Continue ongoing Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) training
o Support ongoing Project Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) and Thinking
Map trainings
o Focus on listening and speaking strategies
o Implement state required Observation Protocol for Teachers of English Learners
(OPTEL) to monitor progress of all K-12 English Learners in content areas
● Support for unduplicated student populations (e.g., English Learners, Low-Income, Foster
Youth), including increasing equity and access for African-American and Latino students
● Support for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
o Address the issue of disproportional representation of student groups in special
education through collaboration among District staff, special education staff, and
general education teachers to develop a plan for addressing the issue
o Continue open conversations with students about what helps them to feel confident in
their performance supported by special education services in their classrooms
o Continue our commitment to the least restrictive learning environment
● Support for Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and STEAM
o Continue to supplement NGSS and STEAM
o Plan for science textbook adoption and implementation at all grade levels
● Class Size Management
o Keep student enrollment low in courses, such as English and math that are meeting
the needs of our struggling students
