Volleyball A Boys (Nationals)
Back Row:
Ben Vautier, Elliot Burton, Kohki Takano, Samuel Dowd Hill, Kane Lowry, Malcolm Nicholson (Coach)
Front Row:
Cillian Foran, Lucas Maidens, Brady Nicholson (Captain), Harrison Bainbridge, Kein Sera
and their standout game was against Burnside High which
we lost 2-3 (13-15 in the fifth set). Burnside is a huge school
with over 2500 students and they went on to win our division. The boys played consistently good volleyball all tournament
and recorded excellent wins against Nelson Boys B, Scots
College, De La Salle, Taita, Marlborough B and Porirua.
Girls B
This was a very young team with only two senior players, so
the season was definitely all about development and growth
as a team. They had very competitive games against Hastings
Christian and seemed to get more confidence in their ability
especially against the better teams. They recorded three wins
at Nationals and played some nicely structured volleyball. Boys Blue
HBSS League: 1st place Division 1
The boys played with beautiful control throughout the
league and deservedly made the final against Hastings Boys.
For the first and only time this season we ran out winners 3-1
in an incredibly close and tense game.
Boys White
HBSS League: 5th place Division 1
This team was essentially our development players. Although
they only won two games, they were very competitive.
Without doubt, their best result was their 45-45 draw with
Hastings Boys.
Girls Social
These girls had a great season. They started off in Division
4 and were then promoted to Division 3, as a result of
winning most of their games. They won their semi final but
were outplayed in the final against Hastings Christian B.
Nevertheless, an excellent result from the girls.
Boys JA
HBSS League: 6th place Division 3
The most disappointing aspect of the JA’s season was the fact
that we had to default seven games. When we had enough
players they seemed to enjoy themselves and experienced
the standard of play required to be more successful.
Girls Junior
These girls started off in Division 2, but found the standard
a bit too difficult for them. Regraded in Division 3, they
were a little less pressured and started to enjoy some more
success. All their wins were against Sacred Heart College.
Boys A
HBPB Open: 6th place
A disappointing placing, but the boys had a couple of epic
five setters against Gisborne Boys B and Taradale which
unfortunately were both lost.
Term 4 Junior teams
Games have only just begun and the five teams involved are
enjoying varying degrees of success. As usual the Girls JA
and Boys JA teams will be attending the NISS Champs in
Auckland late November.
Seeding: 4th place
The standard of play at this tournament was the highest it has
been for many years. The boys played fantastic volleyball
and were competitive with every team.
Nationals: 9th place Division 3
