We Welcomed Sapphire, Aaron, Kahu and Mrs Ireland
Special
Needs
And we sadly say goodbye to Ashleigh, Luke, Opal, Sam and Mrs Hocquard
The SNU crew had a very successful year. The students went on a fabulous four day
camp in Taupo in May. They attended Special Olympics Athletics and Swimming
Championships and won lots of ribbons and certificates. In September they competed in
the Interschool Taekwon Do Championships, where they won lots of medals, and were
awarded a HUGE trophy for Best Overall Team.
We farewelled our lovely Head Of Department at the end of the year. Bethne had been
in the role for 17 years, and her warm and friendly nature will be greatly missed. Miro
will miss all her orange outfits.
We welcomed three new students in 2018 – Aaron Aaron, Sapphire Jensen and Kahu
Houia. They have all fitted in perfectly to our class, and made friends quickly. Sarah
Ireland joined us as a Teacher Aide in Term 1, and has been a real asset to the
Department.
We say goodbye to our four year 13 students – Sam Johnson is going to Hohepa, Ashleigh
Godfrey will be attending the Life Skills course at EIT, and Luke Kneedbone and Opal
Taylor are looking at joining the workforce. We wish them all the best in their new
adventures.
