S SADD Committee Back Row: Front Row: Georgia Shannon, Anna Welch, Harrison Fulford, Mrs L Baker (Teacher) Siobhan Dodd, Jack Hulls, Samantha Spencer It has been an eventful year both within and outside of the Students Against Dangerous Driving committee. Despite the many obstacles, the six SADD team members have been able to band together to produce a multitude of activities that were not only fun for our student body, but allowed us to educate them on the principles of safe driving. Overall, the SADD committee has had an amazing year in which we ended up learning as much as we taught. It was truly a hectic year both in and out of the SADD committee. Jack Hulls & Siobhann Dodd Our first activity as a committee was the SADD mural in term two, during which we transformed the 200 block hallways into a colourful and interactive tunnel of learning. We painted the windows and walls with messages to the student body instructing them as to our six main rules of safe driving and providing them with space to leave their thoughts and replies. While the activity went well and we managed to create something that will become a fixture of the school for some time, we also learnt a lot ourselves about the timing and advertising of activities which made our other events significantly more successful. The other main event the team worked on was the term three sausage sizzle. Over the course of one lunch time our committee earned $111 for the national SADD charity and handed out almost as many pamphlets. The committee members donated the food so that the maximum amount raised would go to the charity. Using the knowledge we had gained from our previous event the committee made use of an effective poster campaign and an ingenious idea of toasting laser messages to make sure people knew what their money was going towards. 44
