Indigenous Heritage Celebration:
Indigenous Heritage Celebration is a campus-wide initiative to highlight and celebrate the various
Indigenous Heritage cultures on campus, history and
their contributions to the world. Events are sponsored by
student organizations, faculty members, and a number of
offices within the university. We hosted the university’s
first ever Indigenous People’s Day Pow Wow and
Evening Lecture in light of the controversial Christopher
Columbus Holiday. The Pow Wow featured Indigenous
Performers, Dancers, and Musicians from across
Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. Our office partnered
with Indigenous Students at Hopkins, Center for American Indian Health in the Bloomberg School of
Public Health, Native American Lifeline of Baltimore, and the Native Circle to produce this
momentous event for the university and community.
