9 LatinX Heritage Celebration LatinX Heritage Celebration is a campus-wide initiative to highlight and celebrate the various LatinX Heritage cultures on campus, history and their contributions to the world. Events are sponsored by student organizations, faculty members, and a number of offices within the university. The programs were center around social justice and building solidarity on issues and challenges impacting the LatinX students on campus. • Raices- They Tried to Bury Us, They Didn’t Know We Were Seeds • Heritage 365 Cultural Experience featuring Spoken Word Artist Melissa Lozada-Olivia • Heritage 365 Keynote Speaker Series featuring Dania Matos, JD • Identity Through Art featuring David Omni, Havana Cuba Politically Incorrect Series: Documentaries, Films, & Dialogue Politically Incorrect is a series focused on current hot topic issues not currently explored on campus. The series is centered around shedding light on the issues as a means to educate campus on current diversity events. Experts are invited to provide their research and expertise and moderate the discussion to have students explore the topic further. Moderators are invited to challenge internalized biases, prejudice and discrimination that impacts the community • Civil Rights & the Making of the Modern American State- Dr. Megan Ming-Francis • Strange Fruit Documentary & Dialogue featuring Producer Eric Jackson • Finding Identity in Oppressive Regime: Visual Artist David Omni- Havana, Cuba • Mid-term Elections: #votingwhileblack- Center for Africana Studies & Black Student Union • Asian American & the Black Lives Matters Movement- Dr. Erin Chung • Black Muslim in the United States- Alison Kysia, Curriculum Director-Teaching for Change • Osler Medical Symposium- Henrietta Lack’s Family & Unethical Practices in Healthcare • Natural Hair & Professionalism - Knotty By Nature & Panel of Hopkins Professionals • Disability Awareness & Dialogue with Dr. Terri Massie-Burrell • Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & “Wind River” Screening & Dialogue
