Dr. Tara Yosso’s (2005) Community Cultural Wealth model was critical to our leadership work. Drawing from the six capitals she highlights, it was important to reframe student narratives in an asset-based approach, rather than focusing exclusively on the marginalization. In doing so, we were able to transform the outlook of our student leaders. Throughout the year, the six capitals were showcased in the OMA hallway as a way to have visiting students interact with and share their own cultural capitals.
