Identity Series & Cuisine Night The Identity Series & Cuisine Night is a monthly event series that features provosts/deans/directors to speak about their “Identities” with students over dinner. The format of the event entails a PechaKucha- styled presentation, in which the speaker shows 20 PowerPoint slides with pictures that represent who they are and their various identities without dialogue. After the presentation, we ask that they explain the slides presented and interact with the audience about their perceptions on the speaker’s identity. These identities can include race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliations, ability, nationality and more. The goal of this event is to allow the speaker to address their own identities, tell their story, and engage in conversations about intersectionality with the Hopkins student community, all while enjoying a meal related to their identity in a casual, intimate setting. • Faculty/Staff/Administrator: Dr. Kevin Shollenberger (Vice Provost Student Affairs), Dean Dr. Smita Ruzicka (Dean of Student Life), Dr. Durriya Meer (Counseling Center), Toni Blackwell (Senior Associate Dean), & Clifton Shambry (Assistant Director- Student Leadership & Involvement) • Student Leaders: Ty Andrews (ISH), Chisom Okereke (BSU), Ximena Calderon Arevalo (MLC), Evelyn Yeh (IAC), Sami Ayele (ASA), and Kendall Free (MLC/BSU)
