Emergency Notifications
March 2017
As we spring into severe weather season we want to remind everyone about the importance of weather
warnings. Our department has implemented a new emergency notification system that will alert
residents in the event of severe weather. Information to signup for these notifications and more is listed
below. You must register to receive these notifications.
Know Your Risk
Check the weather every morning. It is a simple action that will
ensure that you’re ready for the day’s weather. Don’t leave
home without knowing the forecast.
Take Action
Assemble an emergency supply kit with 72 hours worth of food
and water. In an emergency you may be stuck at home without
electricity for three days or more. Ensure everyone knows how
to stay in touch, knows meeting places and alternate ways of
communicating during an emergency. Make sure that you’re
prepared.
Be a Force of Nature
Inspire others by sharing your weather-ready story on social
media. It can be as simple as posting a photo of your
emergency supplies kit or letting friends know how to reach you
during an emergency.

There are 5 outdoor warning
sirens within the city.
Sirens are tested the first
Wednesday of each month at
1:00 p.m.
Sirens tests are not done if there
is the chance of inclement
weather.
Sirens are to notify people that
are outdoors to get to a safe
location.
There are 2 portable sirens that
are used at large city outdoor
events.
