STMT Testimony- Nolan Ngo( Denver, CO)
God-Sized Task
“ It was my failure to find strength in myself instead of God. It was my failure to bury God-given talents instead of using it for His glory.”
Dozens of youth were lined up outside of the Abba Peru conference. The conference had already started and the building was filled; 1,000 youth kids, at least, each and every one of their eyes were focused on Pastor Jorge and Sister Magda’ s teaching. God’ s love and presence overwhelmed me- that our God had set aside this time and place for each youth, that our God loved everyone in the room, that our God had used our mission team as an amplifier to gather them here in Abba Peru Conference.
To see a gathering of so many youth who worshipped our God so fervently was humbling. It was even more humbling that this was only one of the many cities that held Abba Peru Conference. The conference was a God-sized task and it was apparent by the volume of youth, leaders and love filled the place. The Holy Spirit convicted me that, I have become complacent and lukewarm in joining our God in doing His work. I was disgusted with myself to know that I had turned lukewarm for God spits out those who are and I would be too.
As Pastor Jorge and Sister Magda were ending their teaching, His Spirit reminded me that I do not have to be great or special to make things happen in the Lord. Our God will guide and provide strength. He will provide in every circumstance. Just surrender to Him. Then the voice of God spoke through Pastor James, to everyone, but personally to me.
Pastor James was sharing the testimony of a young lady who went to Korea to share the Lord’ s news. A few months afterwards she became sick and died. That’ s it. But our God used her. After her death, her friends went to Korea and shared her mission, God’ s work. Her actions caused a ripple effect that affected the entire nation.
My disgust for myself grew. I thought about the many times that God called me to join His work and I pushed Him and His work aside. The God who provided everything; I pushed Him aside. It was my failure to find strength in God instead of myself.
It was my failure not to do something with my God-given talents instead I chose to bury them. But our God is faithful and continued providing me comfort, reminding I do not have to be great to do His work because my God is great. The young lady who went to Korea could have been really great, but it was her surrender to God that led to God-sized work. Abba Peru is God-sized work and came to fruition because they surrendered to God.
Let us continue to seek Him daily so that we are in tune with His Spirit and so that we know His will. But let us not stop there. When He asks us to join Him in His work, let us not hesitate, let us not be complacent, and let us not be lukewarm. And when things get hard, do not stop, but persist to seek Him. Let us depend on God as He is great and He is strong forever.
